About Sandbach Animal Rescue

The Society

The society was set up in 1981 to rescue and re-home stray and unwanted animals. It is run entirely by volunteers who strive to provide a better life for the animals of Sandbach and the surrounding area. The society relies purely on fundraising and donations to cover its costs which are in excess of £20,000 per year. These costs include advertising and promotion, food, heating and lighting for the animals currently in our care, together with vets' bills as the society has all animals thoroughly checked, and treated where necessary, by the vet when they come into our care.

The society relies solely on fundraising events and donations. Each month there is a charity market held in St Mary's church hall, just off the cobbles in Sandbach. This is the main fundraising activity and it is a popular event with many people coming to buy from the range of books, clothes, plants and bric-a-brac on sale. Refreshments are also served with bacon sandwiches, cakes and hot drinks at amazing prices.

There are various other events throughout the year including a Spring and Autumn fair, bingo nights, raffles, tombolas and market stalls.

Animal Care

When an animal is brought to the society it is taken to the vet for a check-up and to determine if the animal is micro-chipped. If an animal is chipped then the society will try to trace the owner and reunite them with their lost animal. If this is not possible then the society will take the animal into its care until a suitable home can be found.
